october

the second half of october could work well. in fact, jared and angie will be in town to visit me sometime around then before they fly out of o'hare to go to japan. maybe we could all have 1 big warner orgie.

NATE

Is october still good for you ? I know its good for may ? I am very busy the first two weeks of october with new installations but the second half should be open.

Micah

one more thing

I don't know if this matters but I'm working at 24 bit, 96 khz

September

It's okay I've been really busy also. Just get me the files as soon as you get some free time. I don't know how pro tools works but there's a "bounce to track" command in DAWs Ive worked with that would mix down the selected audio and create a new track which would start from the beginning of the project.

All I really need is the acoustic/rhythm guitar and the vocals. Also I need the BPM for the project and if there are tempo changes where they fall.

Thanks, don't work to hard.

i must find time to atleast post the gtr and main vocal files online for you soon, hibbs. it will still be a few days i think. forgive my busyness. work is crazy in september for me.

Huh?

Are you starting a grunge band? What? And what's pr-cognitive?

I WATCHED THE SMURFS !

Artist: I watched the smurfs

Title: Sacrificing Chickens to Pagan gods ...

What do you guys think ? Are these good names for a raw almost pr-cognitive grundge band ?

Battle

Yes, I've gone bravely into battle. I attacked my computer yesterday with a screwdriver. Put in a new professional quality sound card, got stereo ins and outs 100 watt stereo studio monitors, a 25 key midi controller and new guitar strings... Now I'm just waiting for Nate to send me some audio files.

Jesse

Have you gone bravely into battle ? Have you plotted a course for your guitar parts on worth ? Are we going to record paper back sci-fi for the project ? I would like to work with that cool-ass riff you posted a few weeks ago. When are you & Swygert getting together ? Perhaps I could try to meet up with you then ? Always remember your towel when travelling through space ......

Micah

p.s. Who would win in a death match between Sarah Palin and Leigh Nash ? O.K. what about a death match between puffy and Hillary Clinton or what about a death match between Mark Hammell and Barack Obama ? If you put all of them in a ring

NATE

When do you think drums and bass will be added to worth ? Have plotted a solution for your piano attack ? Is napervill going to become its own country ? When shall we record again ?

Gilmour

Jesse,

Historically he is blamed for forcing the break-up of the original line-up. But I am sure that Waters was not innocent in the matter. Gilmour is a very superb guitarist. We cannot take that away from him... I do think that he was a jerk during the making of " The Final Cut". Maybe it was all of their fault... I dont know...I just know in the end they all gave old roger the syd barrett treatment.

Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Not a bad album...
My favorite is Meddle, I had that one on vinyl, wore it out, finally got around to buying it on CD last year.

I know we have had this discussion before but what do you guys have against Gilmore? I actually just bought his solo album "On an Island" and have really enjoyed it.

Nate ( male prostitute)

Gilmour will probably out live all of us . I know it is sad but true. We all know that roger is genius but he will die well before gilmour. Wright. He was a nice stoner.

Micah

p.s. Did you guys ever listen to " Pipers at the gate of dawn."

now THAT is some funny shit

on you nathan
sorry. just wanted to say something assholish to get it out of my system for the day.
the only thing sad about it is that it wasn't gilmour.

Wright, dead at 65

What a sad day.
LONDON - Richard Wright, a founding member of the rock group Pink Floyd, died Monday. He was 65.

"Pink Floyd's spokesman Doug Wright, who is not related to the artist, said Wright died after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. He says the band member's family did not want to give more details about his death.

Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason in college and joined their early band, Sigma 6. Along with the late Syd Barrett, the four formed Pink Floyd in 1965.

The group's jazz-infused rock and drug-laced multimedia "happenings" made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene, and their 1967 album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," was a hit.

In the early days of Pink Floyd, Wright, along with Barrett, was seen as the group's dominant musical force. The London-born musician and son of a biochemist wrote songs and sang.

The band released a series of commercially and critically successful albums including 1973's "Dark Side of the Moon," which has sold more than 40 million copies. Wright wrote "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Us And Them" for that album, and later worked on the group's epic compositions such as "Atom Heart Mother," "Echoes" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond."

But tensions grew between Waters, Wright and fellow band member David Gilmour. The tensions came to a head during the making of "The Wall" when Waters insisted Wright be fired. As a result, Wright was relegated to the status of session musician on the tour of "The Wall," and did not perform on Pink Floyd's 1983 album "The Final Cut."

Wright formed a new band Zee with Dave Harris, from the band Fashion, and released one album, "Identity," with Atlantic Records.

Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985 and Wright began recording with Mason and Gilmour again, releasing the albums "The Division Bell" and "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" as Pink Floyd. Wright also released the solo albums "Wet Dream" (1978) and "Broken China" (1996).

In July 2005, Wright, Waters, Mason and Gilmour reunited to perform at the "Live 8" charity concert in London — the first time in 25 years they had been onstage together.

Wright also worked on Gilmour's solo projects, most recently playing on the 2006 album "On An Island" and the accompanying world tour".

i'll have to check into this. gimme some time. snootchie bootchies.

OMF Files?

I thought I read before that Pro Tools has an option for importing OMF files, and Sonar and Cubase can export OMF files. This is supposed to allow an easy way to interchange audio files between different software platforms. Is this not true anymore?

If this isn't the case we can just make all the audio tracks start from the beginning of the project and export as wav files. Just note the tempo for me and convert anything midi to audio. right?

Friday, September 12, 2008

I'll give it a try.

Might as well give it a try. If it's too much of a pain in the ass than I'll just drop the original .wav file in and record along with that.
the pro tools session itself would not be compatible with sonar. but i could give you an audio (wav) file or two that you could drag into a sonar session. of course the annoying part would be lining up the timing on the part(s) i sent you. i don't know if that would be worth it.

Worth

Would it be possible to get the session file? I think I could record some on my own just to get some ideas. I'm assuming the session files from pro-tools are compatible with Sonar Pro 6.

JESSE

Have you had a chance to work with " Worth" ? What are your thoughts ? What direction are you wanting to take your parts in ? Do you have any questions about what I am playing ? I am excited about what you will add !

That old site is funny and I still have the recording of the entire Fusion Soul/Opium Tea session. I'd like to start working on a new site. Maybe Well Dressed Matt would be willing to help with that again. Thanks for posting the lyrics Micah.

OK.... This is a very messed up site created by good looking matt . There is a free mps of nuclear fusion soul on this site, but at the end of the song if you let real player paly all the way through is a very very very crazy song of ours called " opium tea". At the very end you can hear matt may screaming " I want to join a spazz core band!" You guys have to check this out. It is truly nuts and makes me smile ...........

Micah

p.s. jesse I think that nate may be moonlighting as a male prostitute but I cant be certain.

NATEWHORE

How is september or October for another session ?

WORTH

Were not young for long

My Last FM Station

WORTH

CHORDS

verse:

Am - C/G - Em

(the last progression before the chorus changes to Am - C/G - G)

chorus:

Am - C/G - F - C/E

on first listen

Yeah, I can understand the lyrics. Kind of a cool song. It's going to be really busy with piano, bass and another guitar. I think it's good but it is going to need a little room to breath once we start layering all the other instruments. Maybe a bridge would help with that.

It would be helpful to have the chords Micah is playing, the vocals are overwhelming the guitar so much that I can't quite make out what he is playing. Also can you upload a copy without the vocals. Thanks.

Everything sounds really good, is that an acoustic guitar, I mean the rhythm guitar? Whatever it is it sounds really good but it's sort of buried in the mix. I'm sure we can sort that out when we get closer to a finished project.
fyi - i think micah and i have already decided to scratch about half of those repeating vocals on the 2nd chorus to make room for more instrumental buildup stuff (aka spacey hibbs gtr). i'd post the lyrics but i think they are pretty easy to understand and i got micah to annunciate well on this song.
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=d0be7f954efb3f9ad2db6fb9a8902bda

that should be the link, jesse
i;ll try and get on that as soon as i get home tonight after work, hibbs.

Let's hear it!

Rapidshare or Mediafire are both excellent for file hosting.

I can't wait to hear what you guys recorded. Also could you post the lyrics and chords please?
what's the name of that website that i can use to upload the song for you, jesse?

for this visit we wrote and recorded a new song. for the most part, we just recorded micah's gtr parts and vocals. i threw in a few vocals too just to see how they mixed. i'll upload the tune for you, just be aware that there are no piano, drums, bass, or jesse gtr yet so the chorus especially sounds empty but with overbearing micah/nate vocals.

right now, it's just a verse/chorus/verse/chorus progression. maybe we'll add a bridge in the future i dunno. for now, we're just proud to have a grynch song with a defined chorus.

next time micah visits (hopefully sometime in the next 2 months), i'm talking him into re-recording his parts for paper thin so we can work on that, too.
So what happened? How did it go? When do I get to hear it?
